Gardeners need to take good care of their plants in order for them to thrive. Be it during the hot season or the peak of winter, plants need to be looked after throughout the year. Here are some tips to help you keep your plants looking healthy and beautiful:
1. Water your plants with care
It’s often easy to overwater houseplants, but it actually does them more harm than good. When watering them, be careful to keep the compost moist and wait for it to have completely dried before attempting to water them again.
2. Keep plants clean
Dust can often hinder the growth of a plant and make it look dull. Be sure to clean your plants regularly with a piece of cotton wool dipped in water.
3. Watch out for pests
We all know pests can drain the life out of your plants. Check your plants for tufts of white fluff, fine webbing at the tips and tiny bugs on the stem and be sure to remove them with an organic spray and pesticide.
4. Prune where necessary
Dying flowers and yellowing leaves are best removed from a plant since they mar its health. Use your thumb and finger to pinch off dying leaves and a pair of secateurs for removing wayward branches.
5. Give plenty of light
Plants need light to stay healthy and grow strong. Keep your plants in a well-lit area to avoid them from looking pale and growing smaller.
