Information about Life of Harriet Tubman

Today, we live in a free world where everyone has the right to live according to their will. Imagine the time when humans enslaved other humans like animals. Many years ago Black Negroes were kidnapped from Africa and brought to America. They were treated brutally and made to do hard labor. Harriet Tubman was one such slave. However, she mustered up courage and pulled not only herself but thousands of others like her out of the clutches of slavery.

While still a child, she was separated from her family and sold to a cruel woman without the permission of her parents. Harriet was made to do tough work but still whipped by her mistress. Gradually she became a strong girl who could do the work of a man. However, she secretly harbored the wish to run away to the North where she had heard many slaves had run away and got freedom. Even after her marriage Harriet dreamt of freedom.

At last, Harriet got help from a white woman who guided her as to how she could escape. After a long and tiring journey she reached Pennsylvania where no one was allowed to keep slaves. Later she found work for herself in the city and started living a free life. Harriet put her life at stake and traveled back to the South to help other slaves in running away.

Harriet was called Moses by her people .She was like a ray of light for them. Her life shows that man can shape his own destiny even if he is in the worst circumstances.
