The Various Roles of the Teacher in Promoting Learning

Teachers play a major role in the learning of students. They should create a friendly environment in which students are comfortable. They should have leadership qualities and a sense of responsibility and should also be able to motivate students. Sound knowledge of the subject and the ability to answer all questions are very important for the teacher to possess. They should encourage critical thinking and develop the habit of classroom interaction. More listening and less speaking should be done.

The major role of teachers is that of a facilitator. They are the guides and mentors for their students and for most students, their teachers are their role models. They should take into account the needs and wants of their students and deal with them accordingly.

Teachers must be able to create humor in the classroom to break the monotony and should also employ various teaching methods to avoid boredom of students. They must also help students in their social matters and should be available to them at the time of need.
