One of the most pressing problems with the youth of today is the growing concerns of alcohol consumption amongst them. Teenagers today usually hang out in groups and are tempted to experiment with items considered taboo. Their natural inclination drifts towards alcohol since it is consumed in large quantities by adults and is considered a social habit. What teenagers don't realize is that alcohol is a potent intoxicant that affects the body in various ways.
The problems with consuming alcohol at such an age are numerous, since a teenager's body is still in the process of development and does not possess the tolerance level as that of adults. Alcohol consumption among teenagers can lead to social problems such as reduced mental capacity and aggressive behavior, as well as health issues ranging from decrease in stamina to liver problems and alcohol poisoning.
Parents should recognize the risks of alcohol consumption amongst teenagers and should take necessary steps for prevention and rehabilitation of their children. Discussing alcohol with children, its ill effects and any opinions that may be held is a great way to educate them about the pros and cons of consuming alcohol, and may go a long way in protecting them from any adverse effects it would have.
