The scientists all over the world are raising their voices over the global warming issue. Global warming has brought about dire consequences over the last two to three decades in the form of floods, hurricanes etc. which in turn have destroyed the lives of millions of human beings, plants and animals. What actually is the issue of global warming?
Global warming is caused by the greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, methane etc. which trap heat in the atmosphere. As a result the overall temperature of the earth rises. Because of our increasing dependence on technology in our everyday lives, the ratio of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is rising to a large extent.
No doubt, the modern scientific development has made the life of man much more comfortable than before. However, at what cost? We are paying a heavy price for it. The truth is that our greed for luxury and power has made us so selfish or so to say numb that we are devouring this earth without even caring about the amount of damage we are doing to the environment and indirectly to ourselves.
Hence, it is high time that we wake up to this issue of global warming. We need to make our young generation which unfortunately is obsessed with TV, video games and motor vehicles that our planet is becoming hot_ not slowly but quickly. It is not a natural calamity which we cannot control. In fact, we ourselves are responsible for it.
