Noise pollution has become a serious problem all over the world. Nothing but human activity is the root cause of it. Day by day our dependence on technology is increasing. On the one hand, these incredible machines have enabled us to do our work in a much easier and quicker way but on the other hand, the unpleasant noise they make is adversely affecting our health.
The main cause of noise pollution in our environment are motor vehicles e.g. cars, aeroplanes etc. Besides this, factory equipment, heavy audio and video systems, loudspeakers etc are also contributing allot to the already deplorable situation. The first thing affected by noise pollution is human behavior. Prolonged exposure to unwanted loud sounds has made people short tempered, aggressive, sleepless and loud. Such overwhelming stress is leading people to diseases like depression, forgetfulness, high blood pressure, hearing loss and the list goes on and on.
Noise pollution can be controlled in a number of ways. Strict measures should be taken to control speed of vehicles on the roads. Loud music should not be allowed on the roads especially near hospitals and residential area. Appropriate town planning should be carried out. Above all, no target can be achieved without the cooperation of the public at large. Therefore, people should be made aware of the harmful effects of noise pollution so that everyone pulls together to improve the decorating conditions.
